For almost 20 years, community groups and the Greens have defended Callan Park from being sold off, developed and commercialised.. Progress has been made, defeating a range of development proposals by Labor and Liberal governments.
The absence of apartments on Callan Park today is evidence of our success but there is so much more to do.
Importantly, the site is now under the management of the Office of Environment and Heritage.
The government has now taken on landscape design consultants who will be tasked with developing a Landscape Structure Plan for Callan Park. Their focus is to open the space up for parkland, demolish some buildings and promote walking access.
Join Jamie Parker, Member for Balmain for a public meeting on Thursday 21 June to give local residents the opportunity to hear from the Department and provide feedback on their concepts.
